Counseling for Teens
Life feels like being thrown out of a boat without ever learning to swim. Or being at the bottom of a 15 foot hole that feels like a 30 foot hole. Your parents are supportive but they don’t really get it. They don’t get that it takes all the strength you have to just open your eyes or get out of bed. Everyone keeps telling you “it get’s better” but you are not certain that’s true. That feels really hard to believe right now.
Others act like you are being dramatic or selfish when you can’t bring yourself get up and do things. They don’t know how overwhelming the emotions become. Because you work so hard to hide it. You feel like you should be able to figure this out. And you keep trying to, but just end up feeling lost and confused.
There are so many things you want to do in your future but the fear of failing is paralyzing.
Some people at school seem to be sailing through life so easily. Is it true or are they just better at hiding their struggles? You just aren’t sure.
You are glad that you have friends that understand you and who get it. But they struggle with the same things and don’t really know how to help past listening and being a good support. And you need more than that right now.
You know it would be helpful to talk to someone, to see a counselor. But life is just so busy. Everyday after school is filled with activities and clubs. It leaves little time for much else. But the longer this goes on the harder everyday gets. And you are ready to no longer just be stuck in survival mode. You know you would capable of so much if you could just get this figured out.
